Summary
The effect of Rayleigh number on Nusselt number suggests three flow regimes: a laminar, impeded regime is generally indicated; the data suggest a turbulent boundary layer regime, and between these regimes is a third which has the characteristics of a short-lived fully-mixed turbulent regime.
