Numerical modelling in cryostat design: methods and experimental verification.

Summary

A set of calculation algorithms for the analysis of heat processes in cryostats and some of their essential components has been derived. Simplifying assumptions are discussed. The algorithms have been applied in a program, which enables the user to design a cryostat equipped with up to five shields with fixed positions, to optimize a one-shield cryostat and to solve a gas cooled neck separately. Experimental verification of the evaluated parameters is presented. Good agreement between calculation and measurement has been achieved.
