Oil management for industrial HFC systems.

Oliehuishouding bij industriële HFK-systemen.

Author(s) : WIJBENGA J.

Type of article: Article

Summary

During the design of refrigeration systems, attention must be paid to the correct handling of oil in the system. Oil is necessary for the compressor and control valves, is undesirable elsewhere, e.g. in evaporators, condensers and pipelines. Oil is kept to a minimum in the suction separator of industrial refrigeration systems. The article gives solutions regarding the handling of oil in separators, pump stations and flooded systems, specifically in systems with HFC refrigerants. Furthermore, special attention is paid to the effect of superheating the suction gas of HFCs on the reliability of the compressor.
