PERSONAL COOLING GARMENTS HAVE BECOME NEEDED TO REDUCE HEAT STRESS OF PEOPLE WEARING PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. THIS ARTICLE DISCUSSES THE HEAT BALANCE EQUATION FOR HUMAN THERMOREGULATION, GARMENT DESIGNS THAT USE EVAPORATIVE-CONVECTIVE COOLING (INCREASE AIR VELOCITY, DECREASE AIR TEMPERATURE, ARTIFICIAL SWEAT), AND GARMENTS THAT USE CONDUCTION COOLING (WATER, DRY ICE, WATER ICE).
