Summary

A PILOT LOAD MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME STARTED IN 1981 IS INTENDED TO DETERMINE THE COST AND PERFORMANCE OF SUCH A PROGRAMME IN REDUCING DEMAND AND IMPROVING ANNUAL LOAD FACTOR. THIS IS A SUMMER PEAKING SYSTEM AND 84 LARGE CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONERS WERE CONTROLLED FOR 4 MONTHS. THE TOTAL LOAD CONTROLLED WAS 9,363 MW. A SAVING OF 10.69% WAS ACHIEVED. IT HAS BEEN DECIDED TO CONTINUE THE SYSTEM AND INSTALL 300 MORE RADIO SWITCHES ON RESIDENTIAL AIR CONDITIONERS OF 15 W OR MORE. MOST CUSTOMERS DID NOT NOTICE THE CHANGE IN TEMPERATURE ACHIEVED. (INT.
