Summary

THOUGH RECIPROCATING, ROTARY AND SCREW COMPRESSORS ARE REGULARLY ANALYZED AND IMPROVED UPON IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE BETTER PERFORMANCE, THERE APPEARS TO BE A PREFERENCE IN THE JAPANESE REFRIGERATION MARKET FOR THE SCROLL COMPRESSOR BECAUSE OF ITS HIGH EFFICIENCY AND SMOOTHER OPERATION. INVESTIGATIONS ARE PRESENTLY BEING UNDERTAKEN WITH REGARD TO SHAFT VIBRATION, OIL SEPARATION, THE BEHAVIOUR OF REFRIGERANT OILS, MACHINE RELIABILITY AND THE USE OF NON-AZEOTROPIC REFRIGERANT MIXTURES IN ORDER TO IMPROVE SYSTEM EFFICIENCY.
