Single-effect/double-lift chiller: résumé of operational experience and modelling of performance.

Author(s) : SCHWEIGLER C., ZIEGLER F.

Summary

The efficiency in total energy systems could be improved significantly if absorption chillers were available that can be driven with limited mass flows of low temperature hot water. For that purpose a new type of multi-stage lithium bromide/water absorption chiller has been specially developed for the summertime operating conditions of district- heating networks and for utilizing the reject heat of cogeneration engines. It provides large cooling of the driving hot water (some 30 K). The paper describes the concept, installation and control strategy of the new chiller.
