AFTER REVIEWING THE PRINCIPLE OF THE SLIDING VANE COMPRESSOR, A RECENT MODEL IS DESCRIBED: THE ROTOR, THE HOUSING WHICH IS SHAPED IN A SPECIAL WAY SO AS TO MEET THE CONSTRAINTS OF THE 5 AREAS OF THE OPERATION CYCLE AND WHICH IS MASS PRODUCED BY A COMPUTER-ASSISTED MACHINE TOOL, AND THE VANES MADE FROM A HIGH TECHNOLOGY MATERIAL. THE LUBRICATION MODE IS INDICATED. THE ADDITION OF AN INJECTION CIRCUIT MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO OPERATE THE COMPRESSOR DOWN TO 233 K (-40 DEG C). THE UTILIZATION LIMITS ARE GIVEN AS WELL AS THE MAINPRESENT AND FUTURE APPLICATIONS. J.L.
