Summary

This paper presents a summary of the lectures presented during the event "Small refrigeration systems" (such as domestic refrigerators and commercial vending cabinets), held in The Netherlands. The vapour compression system is applied in virtually all the systems. Nevertheless, alternatives exist or are under development, such as Stirling, absorption and thermoelectricity. These systems are further discussed. It is concluded that technological improvements are evaluated on the basis of standardised test procedures.
