Spacer effects on edge-of-glass and frame heat transfer.
Author(s) : REILLY S.
Summary
The influence of the spacer assembly separating two glazing layers on the heat transfer through the edge-of-glass and frame areas is investigated. The work verifies that representing a spacer assembly as two blocks and, in almost all cases, as a single block does not affect the simulation results. The total difference in the combined heat transfer through the edge-of-glass and frame areas is between 0.06 and 0.40 watt/m2.deg C with spacers with effective conductivities between 1.4 and 0.1 watt/m.deg C, respectively.
