THE AVAILABLE FULL-AND PART-LOAD PERFORMANCE DATA FOR RECIPROCATING COMPRESSOR WATER CHILLERS HAVE BEEN ANALYZED, AND A STEADY-STATE MODEL CAPABLE OF SIMULATING THE ENERGY-RATE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SYSTEM IS DEVELOPED. THE WATER CHILLER MODELS USED ARE ALSO EXAMINED AND ARE SIMPLIFIED OR ALTERED TO ENHANCE COMPUTATIONAL EFFICIENCY ; HOWEVER, MODELLING ACCURACY IS REDUCED.
