Summary
Presents the preliminary results of 18 out of 30 inspected ventilation systems in low-rise, low energy residential buildings in the State of Hesse, Germany. In general the systems tested meet the requirements of energy efficiency but with significant potential for improvement, building airtightness is inadequate, most ductwork and fans are far from optimum performance, maintenance is unsatisfactory. Electricity consumption could be reduced by more than 50%.
