Summary

The fundamentals of how a two-stage refrigeration plant works are presented, along with the reasons for using this system. Various methods of intercooling of compressed gas and ratios between the displacement volume of the first and second stages are described, along with the selection of the optimum interstage pressure and the external working parameters and application range of piston compressors, especially at partial load and at the initial cooling of the system.
