Summary

The authors conceived a mathematic model starting with the thermo-gaso-dynamic analysis of the phenomena that occurs inside a vortex tube. Comparing the experimental data from literature with the calculated data showed minimum differences. They have studied the influence of the separation chamber diameter and length, the geometry of the pressurized air spout, initial pressure and temperature of the gas on the cooling and heating effect of the resulting streams and on the output level (inner and adiabatic output and the refrigerating efficiency). Analyzing the monitored data, the main conclusion is that the vortex microtube can be used for local and superficial heat treatments.
