The effects of breathing-zone filtration upon indoor air quality and health.

Summary

The authors have studied the effects of an air-filtering system in the breathing zone, built into the furniture, on indoor air quality and on comfort, health and employee productivity. This system was installed on a floor (1,200 m2) of a 27-floor administrative building. Results were compared with those obtained in similar working conditions on a floor subjected to the same tests and on a model floor in the same building. Results obtained with this system brought a decrease in complaints on air quality and an improvement of indoor air quality, employee comfort and work hygiene. These effects were noted in relation to both objective and subjective assessment.
