Summary
The free-piston Vuilleumier machine is a mechanically simple refrigerator, which has proved its potential in prototype domestic applications. The authors attempt to determine the conditions under which the machine could be integrated into an energy chain (for example a vehicle) as a cooling (refrigeration or air conditioning) or heating device, using heat recovery.
