Summary

Following a previous discussion and suggestion, the relationship between flow mode evolution and the Rayleigh number was theoretically investigated. From the simplified governing equations, an analysis was conducted by using the singular theory. The results show that flow patterns of falling liquid films vary with the changing Rayleigh number. The analysis accounts rationally for the evolving processes of falling liquid films along a heated vertical wall.
