Thermal performance of cold stores equipped with different refrigeration systems.
Author(s) : CAFARO E., CARROZZO T., MASOERO M., et al.
Summary
An Italian company specialized in designing and manufacturing refrigerated cold stores for delivery vehicles, recently patented an innovative refrigeration system which uses eutectic beam elements (AL2 Aluminum Cold Beams®) as refrigeration unit. Experimental tests on the thermal performance of two similar cold stores, one equipped with standard eutectic plates and the other equipped with the novel eutectic beams, have shown that the latter ensure a longer duration of the optimal indoor temperature of the cold store for the same energy consumption. Using the eutectic refrigeration system allows one to reduce energy consumption and has lower environmental impact to keep the optimal conditions for goods preservation.
