Summary
A thermoeconomic analysis has been carried out on a range of single- and double-stage absorption chillers to determine the most cost-effective options based on life-cycle cots. The best selections were found to be single-stage chillers with relatively high hot-water temperatures, i.e. hot water at 115 deg C, for equivalent full load hours (EFLH) up to 2500 EFLH and double-stage steam-fired chillers for high EFLH, above 600 EFLH. The results indicated are very conservative as absorption chiller prices have dropped significantly during the last year.
