DESCRIBES HOW THE APPLICATION OF BUILDING SIMULATION PROGRAMS CAN SUPPLY THE DESIGN ENGINEER WITH DETAILED INFORMATION ON THE DYNAMIC BEHAVIOUR OF A BUILDING. WITH THIS INFORMATION, THE ENGINEER CAN OPTIMISE THE PERFORMANCE DATA AND SPECIFY THE OPERATING MODE TO DERIVE FULL BENEFIT FROM THE THERMAL INERTIA OF THE BUILDING. THESE SYSTEMS, BEING TYPICALLY 30 TO 50% SMALLER THAN CONVENTIONAL SYSTEMS, ALSO INCUR LOWER MANUFACTURING AND OPERATING COSTS THAN CONVENTIONALLY DESIGNED SYSTEMS. (INT. BUILD.
