Summary
The authors measured the turbulent flow and heat transfer coefficients for fourteen different air coolers using the Wilson method. The tested heat transfer coefficients agree satisfactorily with those predicted by the Boelter-Dittus formula. The article concludes that the Boelter-Dittus correlation is still valid for calculating the turbulent heat transfer coefficients in the air cooler pipes.
