Summary

THERMOCHEMICAL ENERGY STORAGE IS CONSIDERED AS ONE OF THE PROMISING MEANS FOR LONG TERM THERMAL STORAGE BECAUSE THERE ARE NO HEAT LOSSES. ALONGSIDE THIS, THE CHEMICAL HEAT PUMP (CHP) HAS ALSO RECEIVED MUCH ATTENTION. THE ARTICLE GIVES A GENERAL EXPLANATION OF THESE TWO SYSTEMS WITH THE AID OF AN EQUILIBRIUM DIAGRAM FOR CALCIUM OXIDE/LIMEWATER REVERSIBLE REACTION AS AN EXAMPLE, TYPICAL CHP CYCLES FOR THE COOLING CONFIGURATION AND ABSORPTION UPGRADING, TOGETHER WITH THE PRINCIPLE OF THE CHP AND RELATED CHEMICAL SUBSTANCES. THE AUTHOR ALSO REPORTS SEVERAL EXAMPLES OF CHP SYSTEMS WHICH ARE STILL UNDER RESEARCH OR DEVELOPMENT.
