Summary

The performance data of refrigerant compressors are specified according to standard (DIN EN 12900:2013, 2013) or (AHRI Standard 540-2020, 2020) and are published at nominal test conditions as a function of the suction-dew-point-temperature and the discharge-dew-point-temperature for a constant compressor frequency with a third-degree polynomial function of 10 coefficients. A variation of the compressor frequency is not provided in the standards, which is why the performance data of variable-speed compressors (VSC) cannot be announced with the standards up to now. The subject of the present investigation is, therefore, the optimization of a previously published mathematical single function for VSC, which enables performance data to be reproduced with high accuracy over the entire compressor map. The new function is validated for power input, refrigerating capacity, refrigerant mass flow rate, and discharge temperature against experimental data with maximum deviations of +2.74/-2.44 %. It will be investigated for other compressor types and manufacturers in future work.
