Summary

The results obtained using variable-speed refrigerating compressors and the economic impact of this technology vary according to the compressor used and the plant in which it is employed. However, it is obvious that speed adjustment according to needs is a valuable feature. In the past, expansion in the use of variable-speed equipment was slowed by the cost of frequency converters. This trend is changing: the price of converters is dropping and refrigerating compressor applications are expanding.
