Summary
Under the background of global warming with frequent extreme high-temperature events, traditional centralized HVAC systems face dilemmas of high energy consumption, aggravated greenhouse effect, and inability to meet personalized thermal comfort demands. While Personal Comfort Systems (PCS) are effective solutions, existing wearable thermoelectric cooling devices have drawbacks like poor wearability, insufficient cooling performance, and limited research on wrist local cooling for thermal comfort regulation. This study develops a novel wearable thermoelectric refrigeration bracelet for wrist localized cooling. Bench tests in an enthalpy differential chamber screened the operating scheme, and human experiment studied the skin temperature, thermal sensation and
comfort of the human body with the bracelet’s effects under different environmental temperatures and exercise intensities, and conducted related analyses. Results show the TES1-4903 module is optimal, with 0~0.6 A operating current, 15~21◦C cold-side temperature, 1.64 W maximum cooling capacity, and COP above 2.87. The 69 g bracelet achieves effective cooling at 27~32◦C, significantly improves thermal comfort (most prominent in high-temperature high-metabolic scenarios), clarifies recommended cold-side parameters, overall intervention effect and obtains correlation equations between ambient temperature and mean skin temperature. This study verifies the effectiveness of wrist thermoelectric cooling in regulating overall thermal comfort. The results
demonstrate that the bracelet can significantly reduce local and overall thermal sensation, improve human thermal comfort, and mitigate heat stress in high-temperature and high-metabolic occupational scenarios, with reliable ergonomic applicability. providing a reference for wearable thermoelectric PCS design.
