A look back at Chillventa 2022

The IIR was present at this year’s Chillventa exhibition held in Nuremberg from October 10 to 12. This was also the venue for the WorldSkills Competition in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning.

After being held virtually in 2020 due the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chillventa 2022 international exhibition for refrigeration and air conditioning was a great success, with over 30,000 visitors.  Chillventa 2022 took place in Nuremberg (Germany) from 10 to 12 October 2022.

The IIR shared a booth with DKV, the German national refrigeration association, and many of the ENOUGH and SophiA project partners came to promote their own projects.

Chillventa was also the venue of the WorldSkills Competition, which allows 15 countries to compete against each other to assess their skills in 62 areas.  The field of refrigeration and air conditioning technology was therefore evaluated in Nuremberg.
For four days, the candidates’ skills were evaluated during the realisation of a miniature ice rink, from the creation of the evaporator to the commissioning of the system.
The time limit was quite tight and put the candidates under pressure. The next edition, to be held in Lyon, France, should take this factor into account to facilitate the work of the candidates.
Taiwanese Chia-Cheng TIEN won the competition with 751 points, ahead of Hugo GERALDO for Portugal, Patrick DANNINGER for Austria, Wonyeong SEO for South Korea, all three with a total of 732 points.
The next edition of the WorldSkills World Competition will take place from September 10 to 15, 2024 in Lyon.
