Best wishes for 2015!
2015 will focus on two major issues: the International Conference on Climate Change taking place in Paris in December 2015 and the overall slowdown of global economic growth. The refrigeration sector will be affected by both events.
Eyes will be riveted on the need to reduce refrigerant emissions with high greenhouse effect. Meanwhile, not to be overlooked, is the rising use of energy in the refrigeration sector and growing global refrigeration needs, essentially in food and health.
Increasing demands for information
In response to increasing demands for information, the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) is already working on these topics through our publications, our conferences and working parties, and by providing appropriate technical and scientific solutions.
Our new guide “CO2 as a Refrigerant, written by Dr. A. B. Pearson, will be available from our online bookstore in January. This publication is of particular interest for those who design, install, or maintain refrigeration systems.
We’re also publishing four Informatory Notes on:
- EU F-gas regulations
- evaporative cooling
- the role of refrigeration in the global economy
- the qualification and certification of technicians

But that’s not all! Our members will be able to enjoy our new online International Refrigeration Dictionary in offering refrigeration terminology in 11 languages.
ICR2015 in Japan
Lastly, in 2015, the most important global refrigeration event will take place in Yokohama, Japan: The 24th International Congress of Refrigeration early bird registration opens in January 2015.

With over 900 abstracts submitted, the congress promises to be a major occasion for information sharing and networking.
The IIR is involved more than ever in joint efforts to disseminate research results and scientific developments. For us, 2015 will not be time off, but rather a genuine growth accelerator.
We offer you our very best wishes and support in meeting upcoming challenges. May you enjoy all these new opportunities.
