Calls now open for nominations for scientific prizes at IIR's 27th International Congress of Refrigeration (ICR 2027)

Call for nominations 

The IIR is launching a call for nominations for the scientific prizes that will be awarded at ICR 2027. Each edition of the IIR’s International Congress of Refrigeration recognises outstanding contributions and innovative research in the field of refrigeration through the selection of prize winners. 

Organised under the theme “Smart Refrigeration Systems for Low Carbon and Green Energy”, ICR 2027 will be awarding the following prizes: 

• IIR Gustav Lorentzen Medal 
• IIR Science and Technology Medal 
• IIR Women in Refrigeration Award 
• IIR Medal of Merit 
• IIR Young Researchers’ Awards: 
  • Clarence Birdseye Award (Food Science and Engineering) 
  • Sadi Carnot Award (Thermodynamics) 
  • Alexis Carrel Award (Cryobiology and Cryomedicine) 
  • Willis H. Carrier Award (Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps) 
  • James Harrison Award (Refrigerated Storage and Transport) 
  • James Joule Award (Systems and Equipment for Refrigeration) 
  • Peter Kapitza Award (Cryophysics) 
  • Carl von Linde Award (Cryogenic Engineering)

The call for abstracts for ICR 2027 is also open! Submit an abstract by 1 October 2026.
