EU project ENOUGH offers PhD scholarship at CNR-ITC in Padova (Italy)
A PhD scholarship will be offered as part of the Horizon 2020 project ENOUGH. The European project will aim to provide technologies, tools and methods to contribute to the EU Farm to Fork strategy to achieve climate neutral food businesses.
The National Research Council-Construction Technologies Institute (Italy) will soon announce a PhD scholarship as part of the Horizon 2020 Project ENOUGH; European food chain supply to reduce GHG emissions by 2050.
The National Research Council (CNR) is a public organisation. Its duty is to carry out, promote, spread, transfer and improve research activities in the main sectors of knowledge and of its applications for the scientific, technological, economic and social development of the country.
The research activity of the Construction Technologies Institute (ITC) is mainly related to the building and construction sectors. The Padova section of ITC has about 50 years' experience in the field of refrigeration technology, with a specific vocation to experimental activity in commercial refrigeration, transport refrigeration, properties of refrigerants, infrared thermography and fluid dynamics.
The PhD scholarship on offer
Research Area: Energy engineering
Topic: Demonstrations of best technologies for environmental sustainability of refrigerated transport and last mile delivery.
Job Description: The activity will include theoretical and experimental analysis of advanced refrigerating units working with natural refrigerants (CO2 and/or HC), using state-of-the-art components (ejectors) and advanced control systems, coupled with renewable energy systems, electric/hybrid vehicle and energy storage.
Innovative thermal energy storage for last mile delivery will also be evaluated.
Qualifications: Very good Master-level university degree in energy engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering.
Interest in the topic and strong motivation and commitment to reach the project goals.
Fluency in English.
