IIR Congress 2019: The refrigeration event of the year

Taking place on August 24-30, 2019 in Montreal (Canada), birthplace of the 1987 Montreal Protocol, the IIR Congress 2019 will be organised under the theme “Refrigeration for Human Health and Future Prosperity" and will focus on the current global issues at the centre of international concern.

Bringing the refrigeration community together


First held in 1908 and now the leading scientific and technical event for refrigeration, the 25th IIR International Congress of Refrigeration (ICR 2019), will bring together key stakeholders, decision makers, engineers and upcoming talents in the field of refrigeration.


Taking place on August 24-30, 2019 in Montreal (Canada), birthplace of the 1987 Montreal Protocol, the congress will be organised under the theme “Refrigeration for Human Health and Future Prosperity" and will focus on the current global issues at the centre of international concern.


Against the backdrop of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals announced by the United Nations in September 2015, ICR 2019 will provide the ideal platform to take stock of the historic Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, which entered into force in January this year, and will bring about a global phase-down of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). Many other issues will be presented and discussed such as the cold chain for food and health products, which is essential for avoiding losses and maintaining product quality, the increasing energy consumption of refrigeration equipment and cryogenics for new technical applications.
