International activities: UNEP

The IIR was invited by UNEP to participate in a meeting of the Regional Ozone Network for Europe and Central Asia held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, on February 26-March 2, 2007. Representatives of 16 countries and international agencies (UNDP, UNIDO) attended this meeting funded by the Multilateral Fund. The objective was to share information and experiments on the implementation of the Montreal Protocol. Issues such as strategies to phase out ozone-depleting substances (ODS) and prevention of illegal trade of ODS (see page 3) were raised. Jean-Luc Dupont, who represented the IIR, had the opportunity to deliver presentations on the IIR's role in promoting technology transfer and on the improving of energy efficiency in refrigeration.
