Learn about the contribution of ammonia pioneers at the IOR historical talk on November 3

Travel back in time and find out more about the early pioneers of ammonia refrigeration at the Institute of Refrigeration's (IOR) historical TechTalk to be held online on November 3.

Participants will hear about people like David and James Boyle, as well as Francis de Coppet and John Beath, and how they revolutionised the industry with a series of notable “firsts”.

The talk will be given by Dr Andy Pearson FInstR and Bernard Nagengast as part of the 123rd anniversary celebration of the founding of the IOR in the UK. The talk and paper provide a thorough account of the life and times of the characters involved in the early development of ammonia refrigeration. The event also marks the 150th Anniversary of what is generally considered the first ammonia refrigeration system using vapour compression.

This event is co-hosted by the International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration (IIAR) and is one of the first technical collaborations between the IOR and the IIAR, which signed a Memorandum of Understanding earlier this year.

Reservations for the talk are now open at www.ior.org.uk/150-years-of-ammonia-refrigeration.
