Obituary: Dr. Harshad V. Inamdar

Harshad, a Purdue alumnus who earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (2016), specialising in heat transfer, fouling mechanisms and the performance of finned heat exchangers, sadly passed away on September 2, 2026. 

 

He was a recipient of the Magoon Award for Excellence in Teaching and later became a senior principal engineer at Rheem Manufacturing. Harshad was also selected as a recipient of the prestigious AHRI Richard C. Schulze Award. 

 

Following his passing, the Harshad Inamdar Memorial Fellowship was established at Purdue to support graduate students conducting research on HVAC&R systems at the Ray W. Herrick Laboratories. 

 

A valued member and secretary of the US National Committee of the IIR (USNC/IIR), Harshad will be deeply missed by colleagues and friends across the global HVAC&R network.
