Obituary: Maxime Duminil

The IIR expresses its sincere condolences to the family and relatives of Maxime Duminil, who died at the age of 96. 

The IIR was saddened to learn of the death of Maxime Duminil at the age of 96. 

 

Maxime Duminil was a professor at the French Institute of Industrial Refrigeration and Climate Engineering (CNAM - IFFI) and at the École Centrale de Paris. He was also Vice-President of the French Association of Refrigeration (AFF) and participated in many works of this association. 

 

He has also been very active within the IIR and has contributed to numerous publications: the International Dictionary of Refrigeration, the brochure commemorating the 100 years of refrigeration, several articles on the history of refrigeration. He has also regularly contributed to the Bulletin of the IIR and the International Journal of Refrigeration. 

 

Around a hundred publications to which he collaborated are referenced in the FRIDOC database.

 

He also participated in many International Refrigeration Congresses of the IIR and was appointed Honorary member of Commission B1 "Thermodynamics and transfer processes". 

 

He was a well of science in the field of the history of refrigeration and its technologies and much appreciated by all for his good mood and his humility.
