SophiA will organise a 3-hour hybrid workshop focused on ongoing solar cooling and heating projects in the ECOWAS region. The SophiA workshop will take place the day before ESEF 2024, on November 27 afternoon, at the SIREXE – International Exhibition of Extractive and Energy Resources venue in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF), organised by the ECOWAS Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), seeks to foster partnerships and identify strategies to support investments and policy initiatives of the ECOWAS Member States. This demand-driven and results-oriented event is designed to facilitate investment and drive concrete progress towards the region’s sustainable energy goals. ESEF also serves as a platform for enhancing the policy and regulatory landscape for private sector investment by engaging collaboration among COWAS policymakers, regional and international private sector players, and financial institutions.

SophiA participated in last year’s ESEF in Praia (Cabo Verde). This event provided a valuable opportunity for SophiA partners from Africa and Europe to meet and discuss the project’s progress. OST-SPF and 2iE had insightful discussions regarding preparations for the first demonstration site in Burkina Faso, at Operieren in Afrika, as well as capacity building related to SophiA technologies for heating, cooling, and clean water.
