Thomson Reuters confirms that the International Journal of Refrigeration is still the best in its field

It is our pleasure to announce that the International Journal of Refrigeration (IJR) has confirmed that it is “the best in its field.”

The Thomson Reuters Journal Citation Report recently published the new Citation Impact Factor (IF) for the year 2014, which measure, among other indicators, the quality, international reputation and impact of a scientific journal.

Thanks to the hard work and efforts of all those involved, the IF of the IJR significantly increased by more than 30%, up to 2.24.

These figures, based on the ratio of the number of IJR article citations and publication during 2012 and 2013, emphasize to what level the IIR is committed to providing and creating optimum refrigeration information resources.

The number of submitted papers has been increasing steadily over the past 10 years, and in 2015 we can expect more than 600 submissions from 50 different countries.

Following a peer review process, approximately 50% of the articles are accepted, with roughly 30% coming from Europe, 35% from Asia, 20% from the Americas and 10% from the Middle East, highlighting its truly international reach.

The resulting increase of published papers gave rise to increase the number of volumes from 8 to 12 per annum in 2014. Producing more volumes per year has resulted in a decrease in the publication time of submitted articles.

In fact, together with some other organizational improvements, we have been able to reduce the publication time in recent years by about 30%.

“Without excellent authors and highly qualified reviewers, we wouldn’t have to announce this good news for the IJR A warm thank you to all of you…”

Hein Auracher, IJR Editor-in-Chief

Where can I find IJR articles?

From the IIR website you can find downloaded all IJR articles via Fridoc, the world’s largest refrigeration database.

The IIR has noted an increasing number of full text IJR article downloads via sciencedirect.com.

We reached more than half a million downloads in 2014 and it is likely that this number will further grow this year.

Indexation of IIR conferences and congress papers

The indexation of the IIR conferences and congress papers in Scopus and Web of Science (WOS) has also an indirect impact on the IF.

Indeed, these abstract and citation databases recognize the references of publications indexed and several IIR conferences papers refer to the IJR articles. Since 2014, the IIR has started to index all the IIR conferences and congress papers.

To consult IIR conferences and congress papers visit:

  • scopus.com; using the search engine filter with the ISSN category and search for 01511637.
  • login.webofknowledge.com; using the search engine filter with the Conference category and search for IIR.
