Résumé

In the EU-27, emissions of fluorinated greenhouse gases are forecast to increase to around 100 MT CO2 equivalent by 2010 if no additional mitigation measures are taken. In view of this projection, the Council and European Parliament agreed on a Regulation on certain fluorinated greenhouse gases. The objective of this Regulation is to put in place a legislative framework that contributes to the reduction of emissions of the powerful fluorinated greenhouse gases covered by the Kyoto Protocol. There are provisions in the Regulation for a general review four years after the entry into application (mid-2007) which could include the need to introduce additional measures in order to reach environmental objectives in a cost effective and proportionate way. This final report, prepared for the European Commission (DG Environment) by Öko-Recherche and Ecofys, presents initial findings on the environmental relevance of fluorinated refrigerant emissions from the maritime, railway and aircraft sectors. The outlooks 2020 are given for each mode. Extract from the table of contents: 1.
