Résumé

The effectiveness of methods of breaking tuber dormancy to test for virus infection was studied in 9 potato cultivars. Tuber pieces with eyes were soaked in: a) 1 part per million GA; b) GA + 1 part per million kinetin; c) GA + 1% thiourea solutions; or d) tubers were exposed to Rindite (ethylene chlorohydrin + ethylene dichloride + carbon tetrachloride) vapour and eye pieces were soaked in GA + kinetin. The average percentage of eyes producing plants was measured. Delaying harvesting increased the number of plants obtained and their usefulness for estimating virus infection.
