Résumé

The extensive use of refrigeration in storage and processing has allowed India to leverage its long coast line and emerge as one of the major exporters in the international sea food market, with processed sea food export becoming a major foreign exchange earner and employment generator. Bridging the gaps in the cold chain network between the fishing centres and the local retail markets can help in further exploiting this abundant marine resource.
