Modèle prévisionnel pour le développement de l'échaudure superficielle des pommes Granny Smith après entreposage frigorifique.

A prediction model for superficial scald development on Granny Smith apples after cold storage.

Résumé

Fruit maturity indicators, skin macro-elements and hexane skin extracts of "Granny Smith" apples from four areas in the Western Cape region of South Africa were recorded at harvest over three picking dates for 4 consecutive years. The variables were analyzed for significant correlation with superficial scald incidence assessed after 4 months of cold storage. Starch conversion as maturity index and alpha-farnesene, conjugated triene hydroperoxides and optical density at 200 nm (anti-oxidant activity) in hexane extracts correlated significantly with superficial scald incidence, but with some variation between the harvest areas. Other correlations were found. Stepwise regression analyzes were used to generate superficial scald prediction models.
