Résumé

This publication has been prepared under the project “Conversion of room air conditioners in China from fluorinated refrigerants to environment-friendly R290 (propane) technology” funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) within the framework of the International Climate Initiative based on a decision of the German Federal Parliament. It examines the technical, safety and administrative problems related to the use of flammable gases in the production of air-conditioning systems.
Extract from the table of contents: substances in use; ATEX area (hazardous areas; identifying methods for hazardous areas; classification of zone; examples; gas detectors); electric plants: electrostatic charges and atmospheric discharges; storage plant and refrigerant distribution (storage systems; pressurised tanks; construction method for storage areas); production area and test chambers; summary identification of hazardous areas.
