Résumé

Five major 'take home' messages are offered for consideration. These are to adopt novel technologies, to optimize existing protocols, to apply systems management tools, to facilitate collaboration both vertically (i.e. 'farm to face') and horizontally (e.g. farmer cooperatives), and to employ appropriately educated fresh produce technologists.
