Summary

Refrigerated Transport equipment have strongly developed during the last 60 years in line with the development of food exchange worldwide. Food safety can now be achieved throughout transport and logistics operations that for decades were the critical point of the cold chain. But at the crossroads of refrigeration and transport, these equipment are now facing the challenge of sustainability and environmental performance. If many technical solutions have been tested during the last decades, there is still a lot of room for improvement. The challenge is high and relevant. This article presents 26 possible scientific and technical challenges for refrigerated transport equipment designers, manufacturers, users or experts.
