Summary

In a room cooled by ceiling panels, characterised by a low thermal inertia, the load components that have a radiative origin play an essential role. In practice, a non-negligible fraction of radiative loads is directly removed by refrigerated water, before turning into a room load. This fraction has been estimated through a theoretic-numeric approach and the results are in good agreement with the empirical values suggested by producers. The calculation method has been applied for the comparison of cooling loads in design summer conditions for a radiant system and traditional fan-coil equipment.
