THIS PAPER DESCRIBES THE REASONS WHY A CONCRETE FLOOR IN AN EXISTING FOOD FREEZER DISTRIBUTION FACILITY HAD A < FROST HEAVED > FLOOR. VARIOUS ALTERNATIVES TO RETURNING THE FLOOR TO ITS NORMAL POSITION BY THAWING OUT THE GROUND ARE ALSO DISCUSSED. A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE SYSTEM USED FOR THAWING OUT THE GROUND AND ALL DETAILS OF THE TIME SPAN REQUIRED AND THE RESULTS ARE PRESENTED. OF EQUAL IMPORTANCE ARE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR DESIGNS USING NATURAL VENT SYSTEMS WITH A SUGGESTED LOAD AND AIR CALCULATION PROCEDURE. A MAINTENANCE PROGRAM IS PRESENTED.
