Type of article: Article

Summary

THIS SYSTEM CAN PROVIDE NONINTRUSIVE SIMULTANEOUS MEASUREMENTS OF VELOCITIES AND CONCENTRATIONS AT A POINT IN GASES OR A MIXTURE OF GASES. IT IS USEFUL THEREFORE TO STUDY TURBULENT MIXING OR TRANSPORT PROBLEMS ENABLING HEAT VALUES TO BE COMPUTED BY ANALOGY. THE EQUIPMENT COST IS LITTLE MORE THAN A LASER-DOPPLER ANEMOMETER ALONE, BUT OVERCOMES MANY OF THE ELASTIC SCATTERING PROBLEMS AS LASER-INDUCED FLUORESCENCE IS AN INELASTIC SCATTERING PROCESS. THE SYSTEM IS DESCRIBED IN DETAIL. D.W.H.
