Summary
A new and improved heat pump system for use in cold climates is developed jointly by the Hokkaido Electric Power Co., Tohoku Electric Power Co. and Hitachi Air Conditioning System Co. Ltd. of Japan. The newly developed system has the following features: it operates at ambient air temperatures as low as -20 °C; maximum heating capacity at an ambient air temperature of -15 °C is equal to nominal capacity; heating COP at an ambient air temperature of -15 °C is 2.0; refrigerant used is R407C, which has zero ODP (ozone depletion potential). The new system is equipped with a high-efficiency scroll compressor controlled by an inverter and a liquid injection valve.
