A PRECISION MULTI-THRESHOLD INSTRUMENT WAS DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED TO MEASURE CHILLING HOURS WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO THE APPLICATION OF THIS INSTRUMENT FOR THE PRECISE DETERMINATION OF CHILLING REQUIREMENTS FOR VERNALIZATION OR BREAKING OF DORMANCY OF PLANTS. DATA OF CHILLING HOURS BELOW 280, 283, 286 AND 289 K (7, 10, 13 AND 16 DEG C) COLLECTED FROM INSTRUMENTS PLACED IN SEVERAL GREEK INSTITUTIONS ARE PRESENTED.
