Summary

THE EFFECT OF CRYOPRESERVATION ON THE GERMINATION AND VIABILITY OF SEEDS OF 9 SPECIES OF CAMPANULA L (35 POPULATIONS) WAS STUDIED. THE SEEDS OF ALL SPECIES STUDIED SURVIVEDFREEZING TO 263 AND 77 K (-10 AND -196 DEG C). IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT SUCCESSFUL PRESERVATION OF THE GENE FUND REQUIRES CRYOPRESERVATION OF DIFFERENT GENETIC MATERIALS FROM DIFFERENT POPULATIONS TAKEN UNDER DIFFERENT ECOLOGICAL CONDITIONS. THE EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM STORAGE IN LIQUID NITROGEN FOR 1 YEAR AND FOR 1 MONTH WERE IDENTICAL OR INCREASED THE GERMINATION ABILITY OF SEEDS OF SUCH SPECIES AS CAMPANULA CERVICARIA AND CAMPANULA GLOMERATA.
