Summary
A mathematical model was presented in Aguilar et al. that is based on semi-empirical formulations and can be used to describe the functionality of a TEV. Starting from this approach, the paper presents an extended method to describe the control range of a TEV using the p-h-diagram of any refrigerant (in particularly R134a). This new graphical based method enables the investigation of TEV over the entire operating range under both steady state and transient conditions and is an important tool to analyse cycle oscillations like hunting.
